LMGA Members,
On Thursday, March 27, we held our annual member meeting. Many of you were able to attend and it was great to see you all. For those of you that couldn’t attend, we miss you and hope to see you soon. Here are the highlights of the meeting:
Nick Jurado’s term as president is coming to an end (3/31/25). Tim Hartman was the only person nominated for the position, and he was confirmed as our new president, effective 4/1/25.
Dave Klimek’s term as Secretary also ends on 3/31. Dave voiced his desire to continue serving in his current role. Hearing no other nominees, Dave was also confirmed as Secretary.
Greg Hogan, our Treasurer, updated us on our financial status. After the final numbers from the Member/Member tournament are finalized, we should have @ $1,000 in our coffers to start the new fiscal year. Greg also reminded us that our annual dues should be paid via Zelle, or by check to a board member. He also reminded us of the dues increase to $165 that was voted in during a prior board meeting.
Tim Hartman spoke for a few minutes about his goals for the future of our club. First goal is to increase participation among our current members. He encouraged those present to talk to members not in attendance about coming out more and enjoying the camaraderie and fellowship of our group. Next goal is to grow the organization by bringing in new members. He encouraged our members to “talk up” the men’s club with friends, neighbors, and those that we meet on the course. Tim said that he and the board will be developing strategies to prioritize these goals and to make them a reality.
Lastly, Tim said that Jeff Brickner had been contacted regarding the now-vacant Vice President position. Jeff was happy to accept the position and is eager to get started. As of 4-1-25, the new board will be as follows:
Tim Hartman President
Jeff Brickner Vice President
Dave Klimek Secretary
Greg Hogan Treasurer
Nick Jurado Immediate past President
Steve Morling Tournament Committee Chair
Chip Miller Handicap Committee Chair
Gary Russell Website Committee Chair
We will update the website after the 1st.
Trey Orell came in to give an update on the status of The Legacy. He spoke for several minutes on the course conditions and stated that this was his highest priority. They have been focused on the irrigation system upgrades and should be completed with that project within the next couple of months. He added that they are working with the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) to help fund a conversion from wired controllers to wireless. He said that their number one priority currently is the greens. He is hopeful that the warmer weather will speed up the return of the Bermuda grass so that they can then work to smooth out the surfaces and repair the rough spots.
Trey also spoke about the financial status of the club. He stated that the club is now breaking even. The number of rounds is somewhat stagnant, neither growing nor shrinking. He believes that this may be due to the current course conditions. He said that the owners are not currently putting money into the course, but that they are not taking any money from the course either. They are allowing the management to reinvest all proceeds to improvement projects.
Trey also told us they would be removing the turf on the 5th hole from the white tee boxes way to the fairway. They. will also reduce the size of the white tee box. This is part of the ongoing process to reduce water usage in line with SNWA’s guidance.
Trey advised us that they will be closing the course on Monday, July 7th and Tuesday. July 8th to perform a deep-tine punch on the greens. Also, the course will be closed for 14 days in September for an overseed from Wednesday, September 17th reopening on October 1st. We will do our best to find other venues for our pot games during these periods.
The question of bunker improvement came as it usually does. Trey said that the bunkers are on the list, but that the irrigation system and greens are his immediate priority.
We sincerely hope to see you ALL very soon on the course, or in the clubhouse,
Your Board Members
